  • This is my second time participating in the CQC

I love these challenges b/c of something I once heard on a podcast somewhere: I’d rather be a code janitor than a code ninja or code rockstar. A janitor comes in, and cleans everything, making the next day better. Rockstars trash hotel rooms and ninjas leave a lot of blood :joy:

  • My first computer was the CDC 6600, the world’s fastest computer from 1964 to 1969. 6 million dollars, 128K memory, designed by Seymour Cray

I’m Ken, a Silicon Valley refugee now in the San Diego area. I mostly work in C on embedded systems, including Linux kernel hackery & device drivers for custom boards for spacecraft. In former lives I did video games, digital TV, compilers, debuggers, etc.

  • I live in Kansas City, MO right now.
  • I’m originally from Vancouver, Canada and have spent many years in San Francisco.
  • I mainly write Ruby and JavaScript. I started with Ruby in 2005 and JavaScript in 1999.
  • I’ve founded multiple successful software companies, the best of which do hundreds of millions in revenue / year… but I still spend time on the bin/setup scripts because they matter.
